  Online staff -- Electronic News, 8/9/2004 United Microelectronics Corp. today reported net sales for July of about $330 million (11.2 billion Taiwanese dollars), up 59.8 percent from the same month last year and up 8.6 percent sequentially. Revenues for the Taipei, Taiwan-based foundry for the seven months between January and July totaled $1.9 billion (65.7 billion TWD), an increase of 41 percent over the $1.4 billion (46.6 billion TWD) reported in the same period last year. Compared to its closest rival, UMC continues to grow at a faster clip than TSMC. However, TSMC's overall revenue maintained its lead over UMC sales in July.
