The upshot of the neighbours tearing up the walkway is that there was a thunderstorm on Sunday night. The water that would usually run off the cement walkway between the two houses, seeped into the ground instead.
Monday morning, I step out of bed into a large puddle. My entire appartment was swimming. My carpets were large sponges, the cat looked upset about her wet paws and my jeans, that had been draped over a chair, were suctioning water up the legs slowly. The puddles just reached my CPU on the floor, but didn't actually touch it. I spent the next hour unplugging everything electrical, calling the landlord and sponging the floor dry, as best as possible. Oh, an CURSING THE NOXIOUS NEIGHBOURS. In the end, no grave damage, just damp carpets and a horrible musty smell. The landlord has fixed the blocked eaves-troughs, and the neighbours have finally re-paved. I hope to god it never happens again.
