will someone please explain to me what this xml (Atom) feed thingy is? I just turned it on for my blog but I don't have hot clue as to what it does. I know, I'm very clever, turning on things that may or may not be useful. I read the knowledge base here at blogger and it just sounds mumbly jumbly to me.
What, exactly, is the POINT of an atom feed? Anyone? anyone? -Update- Okay, so of course, asking for answers from the internet in general means that I've been doing a little research myself. I've looked at bottomfeeder and Newsmonster so far and I think I'm getting the gist of this. The whole feed thing is kinda like personalizing you msn home page with the information that you are interested in. Except that you're not limited by stupid MSN's categories and choices. This is good times. Usually I put my fav.
blogs into favorites and I keep going back (almost daily) to see if they've updated. With sites like Belle de Jour now only being updated periodically, it can get to be a pain in the ass. So, I'm gonna set myself up with one of these aggregators and you all better get your little feeds up and running so that I can see you all in one fell swoop. Please and thank you.
