The Too-Early Bird Well... I didn't make it until 10pm last night. Instead, I went on to bed sometime around 5:30pm and forced myself to stay in bed as long as I could, until sometime around 4:30am, when I finally got up again. I hate being an "early bird", I'm much more comfortable being a "night owl". If it wasn't for having to look for a stinking job, I'd still be up all night long, semi-happy.
This morning, I watched "1984" (finally), made coffee for Mom and I, made breakfast for myself (a mushroom/cheddar omelette), did some laundry, and helped JP bring his equipment in. He said he still hasn't gotten a call back about our upcoming gig this month. It seems like the guy is ducking us. Maybe he gave our slot to another band or something. Very strange. Besides the exposure, I could certainly use the money from playing out, that's for sure. Speaking of money, I still don't know what I should do about work. I need to find something close by or on a direct bus route, someplace I wouldn't have to dress up too much for, someplace that pays decent wages, where I wouldn't have to do a lot of heavy lifting, and where I wouldn't have to be in too early or leave too late. I'm really limited in options. I keep thinking about starting up something of my own instead. I'm really sick of working for people, most of the folks I've worked for have been total assholes, and I think I have enough stuff here I could sell.
There's an indoor flea market down the road here and it would only cost me $149 a month to sell there (five days a week). I could bring in basketball cards and cassette tapes and books and whatnot and see how I do. It might be profitable, or it might not. I guess there's only one way to find out for sure. I just wish I had the $149, so I could try it.
I might just list a bunch of stuff on eBay and try to raise it. In the mean time, I need a nap. I'm really tired for some reason. I'd better take a nap this afternoon sometime so I'm not totally useless at band practice tonight.
