The Band Practice That Wasn't Goddamn it. JP called me a few minutes before he was to pick me up for practice to tell me that Jimmy, the drummer, cancelled out tonight (his kids are sick). Neither of us were very happy about trhat all, but I said "whatever, let's just go and have a fun jam tonight".
By the time he got here (he was running late), Al, our bassist, had already showed up at the practice studio and left. It turns out, they lost the key to the room we booked and couldn't get the door open. There also weren't any other rooms available, so we were screwed all the way around. The three of us met here and decided to go somewhere, sit down and talk. We went over to AJ's Sports Pub and have some beer and appetizers (I had fried clams) and discussed music, sports, women, and other stuff.
We had a good time, lots of joking, but we also got serious and discussed the band. We are all concerned that Jimmy isn't taking the band as seriously as we need him to, though we all understand he has other, more important priorities in his life. I guess we're going to see how it goes and play it by ear. I think we're all anxious to be making more progress and frustrated that we're going so slowly. Regardless, tonight was pretty much a wash, and another two weeks will have passed between band practices. Not good.
