Lately I've Been... Listening to: I played a few of the tapes I bought recently: Guns 'N Roses - "Use Your Illusion 1", The Cure - "Disintegration", and REM - "Eponymous". Had a few others on too. Watching on TV: "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Seinfeld", "Saturday Night Live", "The Daily Show", "Columbo", Quincy ME", Bull Riding, and CNN. I watched an old "Hawaii 5-O" the other day too, but I really didn't care for it, too dated. I watched an old movie too, "Scarecrow", with Al Pacino and Gene Hackman, but I tuned out partway through it and missed the ending.
It wasn't bad, but it just didn't hold my interest. Downloading: I downloaded a ton of Wesley Willis stuff. He died last week. A very unique artist, to say the least. Rock over London, rock on Chicago. Burger King, home of the Whopper.
Playing: Nothing lately. Reading: Still haven't picked "Moby Dick" back up. I usually read in bed, but since I've gone back to normal hours, I go to sleep when I go to bed now, no reading. I'll have to make time for it during the day. Jamming: We practiced last night and ran through Sets 2 & 3. Something was off last night and I think it was the drumming.
Jimmy is a decent drummer, but he seemed to be lacking energy last night. A lot of the material seemed to fall flat. The rest of us played ok, though we still made small mistakes here and there. We're not tight yet. We really need to practice twice a week, but Jimmy can't do it. Grrrr!
We're playing at Santana's party on Saturday, so that'll be like another practice. After that, we have to go into the studio for JP's CD, and we're going to start playing out here and there. Working: No job still, no prospects either. There wasn't jack in the paper on Sunday. I'm still selling cards on eBay, so that helps a lot. Plus, I'm still getting tapes in, gathering more and more "stock", so hopefully I can start selling them at the flea market sometime soon.
Buying: Lots and lots of cassette tapes. Before I left for practice last night, I won another lot, 40 tapes, for $16. That's a little more than I should be paying (I would like to keep it down to $0.20 - $0.25 each), but there were some great titles in the lot that I wanted for myself. Some of the better titles are Led Zeppelin - "III" & "Coda", Rush "Rush", "2112", "All The World's A Stage", and "Permanent Waves, Van Halen "Diver Down", The Clash "Combat Rock", Nirvana "Nevermind", and The Cars "Greatest Hits". There's also stuff by Billy Joel, KISS, Judas Priest, Joe Satriani, Queensryche, Steve Miller, Brian Setzer, and others. A very good lot.
Eating: Mom made Chicken Divan (chicken, broccoli, cheddar cheese, bread crumbs, and a mayo sauce) twice this last week and it kicked ass. We had Chicken Cordon Bleus last night. For lunches, I've been eating tuna fish, Stouffer's Fish/Macaroni & Cheese dinners, oatmeal cookies, and peanut butter. I've been drinking orange juice, milk, water, iced tea (with Equal), and I had a beer last night... no soda at all! Yay! Feeling: Up and down, hopeful, but anxious.
Physically, not too bad. My biggest problem right now is that I keep getting sleepy during the day. My back hurts from time to time and my sinuses are a pain in the ass, but that stuff is nothing new. Planning: Again and again and again: I gotta get a job. Next week, hopefully, I will be able to go out and apply at a few places.
