A three-year-old girl was sitting in the first seat of the bus this morning. The driver stopped to pick up two older women, and the girl watched with rapt attention as they walked by and found seats further down the aisle.
That's your future, kid, should you be lucky enough to live that long. The girl was unaware of this, however, and was probably more concerned with the ladies' coats or handbags, or just that they were different, and therefore interesting. I wonder when it is that you get a grasp of your own mortality, and of the finite time you're allotted.
