Editing the oped page, I recently read a wonderful column by Ellen Goodman, a Boston Globe columnist. It's about the two decisions made recently by the Bush boys; urlLink one about abortion , the other urlLink about the right to die . I think she nails the issue on the head. "It is deeply troubling moment when a stranger, a governor, a legislator, a president is given the power to write the end of our ethical, medical, family tales.
Yes, this is how we lose our freedoms: One signature at a time. " urlLink Ellen Goodman: Signing away our freedoms I think we all have to be vigilant, now more so than ever. So many in this country are complacent and allow our rights to be signed away, one by one, and one day they are going to look up and we won't be living in the America of our forefathers any more.
Sept. 11 started the push with Ashcroft, and now we have one Bush who would be King and another who would be God. It's a consolation that ole Jeb will be out of office in a couple of years, never to return. One can only hope that the same will happen with Dubya in the coming election.
