Tahoe Weekend w/ my Highschool Friends This weekend I went on a Tahoe Trip with my highschool friends, for some snowboarding action and cabin fun! We rented out a cabin, which was pretty cool, and very close to Sierra. It was a great weekend, and I had a good time hanging out w/ my old highschool friends. It was cool getting to hang out with a few new people, too. The Drive Up So Friday night, we drove up to Tahoe. My friend George drove, so I rode w/ him, Ruby, and Charles. We left pretty late Friday evening, waited for the traffic died down, so we had a smooth drive.
But the drive up was pretty fun. We just started chopping it up, gossiping about anything, catching up, playing car games, telling jokes, and sharing puzzles/riddles. The Cabin On the way there, my friend Nikki called us up, and we ended up meeting the girls near Davis, to join their caravan. It actually started to snow a little bit in the mountains, and the girls had to pull over and get some chains. Luckily George's truck was big and had some all weather tires. We got to Cabin around 11:30pm, and made some good time. When we drove up to the cabin, the driveway was full of snow! The guys had to shovel the snow out of the way, to fit the four cars. It's tough work shovelling snow, and I'm glad that I don't live in a place where this is a daily chore. The Cabin was pretty cool There were 3 rooms, 2 baths, 7 or so beds, a complete kitchen, and living area space to chill.
So that night, we claimed our beds, and luckily everyone got a place to sleep. No one had to sleep on the floors. We all hung out in the cabin, having late night snacks and catching up w/ everyone. I brought the Xbox for us to play, and we ended up playing Fuzion Frenzy for hours. Everyone seemed to enjoy the game, especially playing the event, Sumo! It was Paul's favorite game, only wanted to play that all night. He was pretty good in the game, until George and I stepped in and bumped him off the edge. =) We went to sleep around 4:30am!
Sierra 4 hours later, we got up and started getting ready for Sierra. We has some breakfast: waffles, cornned beef, and rice! Yum. There weren't too many people at Sierra, so the lifts went by pretty quick. The snow was not too bad, but not as good as I had hoped. Not enough fresh power the night before, so the snow was a slightly hard, but not too bad. We all started the day off together for the first run.
But since everyone had different skill levels, we ended up splitting groups half way down the first trail. So throughout most of the morning, I boarded w/ George, Ruby, and Charles. We eventually caught up with the girls before lunch. Most of the girls were beginners, learning to snowboard and do basic turns. I tried teaching them how to carve, the way I learned when I took lessons - putting your front arm in front and pretending your driving technique. Denise almost had it for a while, but lost it everything she picked up speed. After lunch, we all went our seperate ways.
I boarded w/ Paul, Anna, Tyson, and George. Paul, Anna, and Tyson went skiing and were all pretty good. We went towards the back of Sierra, where all the good trails were. The snow was a lot softer back there, and had longer and better runs. I actually didn't fall to many times, maybe once or twice. But I actually started to feel more confident, carving down steeper slopes and going slightly faster than what I was comfortable with.
So I had a good day of boarding compared to my past trips, eating the snow. My new helmet does help me feel safer. Cabin Fun After boarding we came back to the cabin to clean up and have dinner. For dinner, we cooked sphagetti, baked some french bread, and had 6 bottles of wine. After dinner, the real fun began when we started to play some games. We started playing those puzzle type games, like Black Magic, where if you knew the answer already, others had to figure it out. We played "In my world, there are xxx, but no xxx". This was a lot of fun, and had some many good laughs! We also played games like "Who am I", where you had to guess who the person is. And "Bang, Bang, Bang, who's dead? "...where you shoot someone and figure out who's dead. It was frustrating for some that couldn't figure out the puzzles, and when they did...they were so happy! Drinking Games We also played some drinking games for fun, after dinner. We started off w/ a round of Kings Cup.
This was fun, and got everyone started w/ a buzz. We used the bottles of wine Nikki got. Denise, the rookie of the game, ended up picking the last King! She had to drink the King's cup of wine, cranberry juice, and smirnoff ice. Good job Denise. We also played "Zoom Zoom, Beep Beep". Its a game where everyone is in a circle, and when its your turn, you say "zoom" in one direction. When you wanted to switch directions, you say "beep beep", and start saying "zoom" the other way. This got pretty crazy, and was so funny when someone messed up. I wish I had it on video tape, cuz we all died laughing!
After that, we also played Spoons! Oh boy! Mofia!!! Then Denise taught us how to play Mofia! Oh wow, this game is awesome! It's a game very similar in concept as the TV reality show "The Mole". In the game, we draw cards, and someone is the designated "killer". With everyone's eyes closed, the killer opens their eyes, and selects a person in the group to kill.
Then everyone has to figure out who in the group is the killer! This was soo much fun, and it's my new favorite game! I can't wait to teach it to my other friends, because we all had a great time playing it! Great weekend Saturday night was a lot of fun. So many games and so many laughs. I had a great time w/ everyone, and it made me realize how lucky I am to still be close w/ my highschool friends. Its always fun getting together, and enjoying each other's company, just old the good old days. Not everyone was able to come, for different reasons, but for those that did, I can see they had a good time. Its interesting seeing how our circle of friends evolve and change, and how a lot of things never change.
Its also cool how we can not see each other for years, and get together for a weekend and still be close. Its also cool how we can bring in our other good friends to the group and have a good time. I wish Olivia came, because she would of had a good time. She came two years ago, and had a lot of fun. Hopefully next year we'll have another trip, and everyone can bring their significant other. Charles...you have a year to meet someone! Pictures Since my computer died last week, I can't download my pictures I took. But I'll post the pictures from the trip soon! BTW I miss my little New Yorker!
