Of Centaurs, Cockatrices and Dragons This gets so much stranger. I obviously don't read my bible enough, if I read these verses correctly: Isaiah 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. Isaiah 14:29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. Isaiah 59:5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. In a way it shows that the bible claims that Cockatrice's really do / did exist. This is very interesting, I am not sure what to say, I thought they were simply myths, but I suppose they do/did exist. Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. Whatever was at that point in Number's sounded much like a Dragon of sorts, or somethign like that. Actuall Isaiah 14:29 seems to hint at Cockatrice's fathering Dragons...this is getting insane. Hmmn another reference to the Fiery [flying] serpent.
Isaiah 30:6 The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them. As does Psalm 91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea Isaiah 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? Even stranger, I look at Jeremiah 51:34 , and I am beginning to lose it at this point. This says "he hath swallowed me up like a dragon . " How can the Bible keep on referencing these Dragons, they must exist/ existed at some time.
Well, I dont know if I should even mention Revelations as far as beasts go, that gets even stranger. Revelation 12:3 , actually mentions what I believe to be a hydra, that means so far, the Bible has affirmed the existence of Cockatrice's, Dragons and Hydras, which is oh so strange. In Revelation 12:7 , Michael is said to have had war with the Dragon, which again is said to be called a Dragon, saying once again that Dragon's existed. Don't worry though.. It get's stranger, Revelation 9:7-10 Speaks of Locusts that " 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
" Yeah sounds incredibly like The Sphinx to me, or some sort of Centaur thing. Very odd if you ask me, very odd. Oh and get this, they have a king, known as Abaddon to the Jews, and Apollyon to the Greek. The Bible said that he was Apollyon to the Greek, which acknowledges the fact that the Greek existed. So I wase more or less right in saying there were indeed Dragons, Cockatrices, and Leviathans, and to a lesser degree the Greek were right in saying Centaurs existed. I would have to say that I do believe the Greek based their mythology on what really was happening. Nonetheless, I find it very odd that the Bible mentioned Cockatrice's I had heard that name once more, and that was it. The Bible doesn't say much about them, but it does mention that they have Dens, and are at the Root of Dragons. The Bible mentions that the fruit of the Cockatrice is indeed a fiery flying serpent, which for the sake of simplicity I would say is a Dragon indeed.
Completely away from the Bible I read about the Cockatrice this morning, as being the "king" of serpents, which the Bible reinforces, if it is True that Dragons are the fruit of Cockatrices, then yes they would have to be "kings" of serpents. You all know of Centaurs and Dragons, but not many of you know of Cockatrices, I will now explain for all of you that are remotely lost. Cockatrices, are born of the eggs of birds, and are some how part snake, part bird, AND they have a devasting gaze, and breath. So very odd. Really any feedback would be nice, if possible
