Question: Why is it that every time I turn on the radio, I hear the same five songs fifteen times a day for three months? Mike, it's called urlLink Payola . Well I don't know if they still do that but I imagine that some form of it still exists.
The multi-mega media conglomerates need to make money so they push certain records. Not because they are good or bad, but because they can be marketed. For every 10-20 small bands they keep on the payroll they need a boy band or big time R&B/rapper. And the radio stations need stead advertisment income so they play the popular records or the ones that the companies say will be big.
If you can't stand hearing the same music all the time, listen to urlLink WDET and support your local public radio station. After all, they get your money anyway from the government (but not for long if the lawmakers have their say). And I guarantee they don't replay songs over and over. But you can always do what I do, listen to CDs....
