I live in a gorgeous new apartment with gorgeous new furniture. Everything is perfect. I wish I could post pictures, and my mom took some digital ones, but I don't think I'll ever figure out how to put them online.
But here are some of my favorite parts: * We put risers under my bed, so it's very high and I feel like a princess. My faries (Eliza, Delilah and the newest addition, aptly named Dorothy) are floating over my bed to protect me when Justin isn't here. The room isn't crowded at all and it's like just like resting on a cloud. * The bathroom had a medicine cabnet!
(Oh man, I'm really sad Gregory Hines died. He was the best. ) * We made a pantry out of some Rubbermaid shelving units, which, incidentally, are Master Gardener approved. * The deck, the huge windows and the beautiful view. * The only bug I've seen was a fly. I think Penny ate it. I laughed more this weekend than I have in a long time. You can't help but have a good time when you're around my parents.
I can't explain what made us laugh, but every minute they were here was great. Penny was her usual idiot self and was totally freaked out every time we opened the door. She'd bolt and get dragged back in. She growled at my mom for the first time ever and very nearly had to walk all the way back to Iowa.
So it's permanent now I live in Kansas City for at least another year. It feels good. I still don't know what's going on with jobs (and let's not talk about it - it's embarrassing and stupid and as of next Monday, I'm unemployed for either a day or inedifinitely), Justin and I are not so patiently waiting to be in the same city and I have a huge cancre sore on my tongue. And, in case you have forgotten, I have a lazy eye. My mother just informed me that Penny refused to get out of the van when they got home a few minutes ago.
She's afraid she's going to get left at home again. The best part of the weekend was waking up next to that little dog. I slept in the papasan cushion (now known as The Nest) and P snuggled right next to me. She's so sweet when she's sleepy and it was so nice to wake up next to my favorite girl.
I really want to get my own dog, but in a way, I only want Penny.
