Oh Say Can You See? Hey Hey! Whats going on Fish Inc. back in effect! w00y! Got home from New York City about 4 hours ago or so, and between fixing urlLink [ My Dad's ] website, which somehow broke... i don't know how. Nor do I know how I fixed it, it just worked... I'll blame the host. Anyway, back to New York. I stayed at the Roosevelt, and the room was built for little people. I kid you not. The room was supposed to fit 4 comfortably, but every night my feet hung off the end of my bed, and staying on " my side of the bed " was impossible unless you have no shoulders...
Anyway, on top of that, it had no internet connection. $150.00 US a night, and it doesn't come with an internet connection, and the business centre was down, so my Fish Inc Live from New York was a no go, as was my e-mail, and all the things that help me be the most reachable guy in the world! Moving forward, we did most of the things that we set out to do in New York, including those tasty beer nuts.. . mmmm, hot sweet beer nuts **insert Homer Simpson drool here** Damn those things were good, and you get a shit load for a buck! I miss them already! We hit up NBC studios for their tour, was pretty cool, learnt a lot. Did the Empire State Building, the subways, taxis and all that other stuff that is synonymous with New York, including Time Square! That was one awesome place, I don't think things ever closed in Time Square, and the beer-nut guy never went home, he just sat there and sold... sold... sold... and I am thankful!
Virgin Records was open at 1AM on a Sunday Morning, allowing us to grab some Coldplay imports, and this huge Music Store had every tab book in the world, picked up the Parachutes Album's tab book. We also went to Canal St. which is where all the illegal stuff happens. Stolen and knock-off purses, watches, jewelry, and DVDs galore.
I picked up Catch Me If You Can and Jackass for $10 US, the quality isn't that great, but I won't complain, I hadn't planned on buying those DVDs anyway, so now I get to laugh my ass off at Jackass for 5 bucks! Who needs quality on that movie anyway, it's good, it's just not DVD or nothing and the chapters don't work, they send you like 20 minutes ahead, instead of the next chapter, I wouldn't buy a DVD off the streets of New York unless you just want to see it, in which case it's just like renting it... Someone had to test them right? Moving on, we visited ground zero, very tough at times... Nothing much left, but it does bring back the memories, as well as a realization that this did happen, and that 3000+ people died, just going to work. I didn't appreciate all the bastards making money off this tragedy, including bobble-head FDNY and NYPD. I can just see the poor kid, who's dad was a fireman and he died in the WTC, walking down the street and see this little toy head bobbling around wearing the uniform his dad wore honourably, being disgraced for a few bucks. There is a lot of stuff for sale about 911, and none of it mentions any widow's funds, or relief... just greedy people making money. I don't know, that really irked me. Keeping with the sombre mood, Sunday afternoon we went to Strawberry Fields. It's a part of Central Park dedicated to John Lennon, [ my musical idol ] right across the street from the urlLink [ Dakota ] where he lived.
It was another tough one. I don't know about you, but when you hear stories or news about some tragic incident, it doesn't matter if its a year later, or 22 years later, but when you see the place, and actually stand on the place where it happened, it just makes it that much more real, and that much more tragic... I am glad to say that there was no one selling John Lennon bobble-heads here. I'll post some pictures of the place and New York, as soon as I get them. Games... I just got into the urlLink [ Shadowbane ] beta. It's the new but much delayed [ at least two years in fact ] MMOG coming out from Ubi Soft. It's primarily PVP [ Player vs. Player] so I don't think I'll be spending too much time in it, but you never know, all depends how good I am at it. I've got some PR stuff here from AddictGamers that I need to go through, and review. However with the two midterms I have this week, I doubt I'll get much time with anything other than the one Oxygen PR CD.
Shadowbane will have to wait. While I'm on the topic of school, I got offered a position with CCRA again, no clue if it's going to still be available since they sent the email Friday, and asked for a response " TODAY " but thanks to the hotel, I only checked my email when I got home. I'll let you know, if you care that is. Not much else to tell you, I'm gonna call it a night, roll over, and get some sleep. Var gets here in a few days, and we got a lot of shit to do to get his space ready. Fish Out! This post dedicated to the memory of John Lennon, died December 8th 1980
