So... As is customary the Saturday before every NHL Christmas break, Montreal Canadiens will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in what is easily hockey's greatest and longest going rivalry... or is it? Without a doubt I love the 7 times a year these teams play, and it's because I've grown up being told to hate the Toronto Maple Leafs, and because I live in Toronto, where all my friends are told to hate the Montreal Canadiens. Now, he's my question... why? The last time Montreal and Toronto played a game that meant anything more than 2 points and bragging rights was 1967, since then it's been countless regular season meetings and thats about it.
I have no doubt though, that when Montreal faces Toronto in a playoff series it'll all come to a head, and the fierce rivalry that we've all read and heard about will be reborn... and then the Habs will promptly show the Leafs the golf course ;)
