SPRING CONVENTION 2003 RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN. Thats all it did the whole weekend, but i still had a blast. On Thursday after ethan took me to see the matrix {which was amazing} i came home, packed and went off to get on the bus to be taken to a sleep away camp in west VA. On the way up we watched Fight Club and i did danielle's hair. Before i knew it we were there and getting our stuff off the bus. We got our name tags and it made my day that mine had a yellow ribbon on it reading "ASK ME". It was so that people who were interested in going on wheels could ask me questions, too bad no one did, but hey, i had a ribbon! while getting my new seaboard scrubs, which are like 10 sizes too big, two other people could fit in them with me...we shall have to try that later, i was greeted by mike, who was then forced into helping danielle and i carry our stuff back to our bunk. I was in the same bunk as danielle...and thats it. none of my other friends were in the same bunk as us. And yes half the reason of USY is to meet new people, but i hardly get to see the people i already know, and that really is one of the main reason i go to so much USY stuff. Anyway, after dropping my stuff off i got to see a bunch of people i haven't seen in the longest time.
That night we did ice breakers, which i think most of the time are ather pointless, but this time it was fun, especially since danny wise decided to single me out in this moo game' it's not a hard game, the point is to get an unsuspecting person to yell moo' very loudly, i was that lucky person who ended up in the fetal position in the corner after turning bright red and realizing i was yelling moo' to the whole room. After games i don't really remember what we did but i know i was unhappy about going back to my bunk, where i could not fall asleep.
I tried my best throughout the weekend to spread my SARS on to others...by the end of the week many had SARS like symptoms such as myself...mwahaha! Friday was election day. a very stressful time for some and a rather boring time for others. I was caught in the middle, seeing as who a few of my closest friends were running for regional board which is a tremendous job. First up matt welik won president which is pretty awesome considering he is only a senior and was running against a junior. Shiri won SA/TO easily against the drop down candidate. Then jacob wolf with a very cute do you believe in magic? ' speech won, he looked so adorable in his tux, top hat and white gloves. Steven won communications and i am so proud of him, he really deserves to be it.
and even with a kickass nomination song written by danielle and myself which was in perfect time i might add, unfortunately hillary did not win, but i am still proud f her for having the guts to run in the first place, i am sure she is upset, but she will over come it and she still has another year where she can run! Before shabbos came we had some free time. I just hung out with some friends and tried not to get too wet out in the rain. We had some boring study groups and some speeches. Saturday got up about ten minutes before we had to be at services, i just put a skirt on over my pjs and went off for the mind' services which was suppose to get us to meditate, it was relaxing to sit there with my eyes closed.
During free time i talked with jacob who let me have his extra camera b/c i forgot to remember to bring mine, such a sweety, and told steven that if he doesn't get his first kiss before he turns 18 then i would kiss him. Oohh poor steven, as long as he doesn't get so desperate and try to do stuff with morgan. I also spent time with zach.
He is such an awesome guy to hang out with. Our relationship is completely plutonic, even though just about anyone else would think otherwise. He is just a touchy-feely person, but he makes my day so wonderful and i never stop laughing when i am with him. I met his friend noah at services that night, he is a pretty interesting guy, he and i both like eye liner and eye shadow, and he has the same shade nail polish as me! There was a speeker who told like 5 stories, none of which i listened to....ehh. after dinner was the dance. I danced a little, but got bored and just didn't feel like dancing so i ended up going in to watch zoolander, which is such a funny movie. After the movie i went back to the dance and got my promised dance from marc. And we watched a slide show of pictures from throughout the year. When we were told to all go back to our bunks, i went with hillary and allison to the boys bunk until got kicked out. We spent the next few hours peeking out the window, waiting for the conclers to go away so we could go back into the boys bunk. I ended up sleeping with hillary and was the best sleep i had the whole time i was there, so warm and comfy!
Sunday i got out of hillarys and wearing the same thing i had on since the night before went to services and then breakfast, where we sat for a few hours listening to ravid, installing the new board and just other people talking. Then we had to say our goodbyes and get on the bus to go home. I got two seats to myself, put my head phones on, curled up in a ball and slept the whole time.
When i got home and was talking to staci, who had called me for all the juicy detail of my weekend i realized how much i really love USY! I forget when i go so long without seeing some of these people. people who are so nice and caring, and willing to talk. People who would do anything for you in a heart beat, and put a smile on your face. People with so much ruach and spirt that it makes you want to get up and dance. People who you feel like you have known forever even if you haven't see them for ages. People who are so comfortable that they can come up and double hump you! [don't ask] I really just love being with these people, it is as simple as that. Time always flies when with them and i wouldn't trade these events for anything.
I feel sorry that not all my other nonjewish friends can't take part in these event and even if they are in a youth group, i truely don't think there is anything like USY. Maybe a biased opinion, but oh well. Anyway, i had a blast and can't wait until encampment in August, until then thankfully i have my license and a car and i hope to see these people a lot more often over this summer. if i forgot anything, sorry to all of you who where there and feel forgotten, i am extremly tired and can hardly remember how to type. P.S.- i got a job! at CVS. this past week i had my first two days, both went alright and i actually don't mind going there to work. tadah! growing up! so scarey!
