Paradiso Perduto (Lost Paradise) The beach is supposed to be a paradise, a place where one can relax and be one with nature.
Sadly, it is not possible to do that anymore. The beach is now crowded with beachgoers who bring all their inconsiderate behaviour with them. Cycling along the tracks is akin to driving on the PIE, no, actually it's much worst. No one drives on the wrong side of the road on the PIE, but people will not hesitate to cycle on the wrong side.
Why?? Doesn't it make more sense to follow the direction painted on the track? It is less hassling to keep to one side of the tracks because one wouldn't have to worry abt the on-coming traffic. But NO. It is also a wonder how people can ignore the cyclist who rings his bell to ask them to move a side. [groan] Many a time I did that, people (usually KIDS! ) just start back blankly at me and REFUSED to move! Hey pal, this is the cycling track, if you're walking stay on YOUR side of the track. I actually told them off.
I really did. The joy of cycling died that day. The next time I cycle, I'd make sure I wouldn't do it on a weekend, or even during the day. I'd do it at night, on a day where there would be less people. The beach is supposed to be a paradise. I wonder when did it all go wrong.
