Ok more Reviews (i'm on a roll here) Some of you may wonder what the hell do I do with my time since I seem to be reviewing alot of movies lately. I'm not as free as you may like to think. I watch all these movies over lunch/dinner or any meals I have whenever I'm in hall.
:) 1) 8 Femmes (8 Women) As much as i'd like to review this show, I can't. First, I've not finished watching the show. Secondly, the reason why I've not finished watching the show is cos I don't understand it. This show is in French and while the quality of the download is incredibly good (it's a DVDrip, btw), it has no friggin subtitles. It's a headache to follow their dialogue. I gave it my best shot. I lasted abt half of the show before I gave up cos my head was pounding. This show isn't like Taxi (another French movie) where one can rely on the actions to understand the movie. Au contraire , this movie is similar to Gosford Park, a movie where dialogue is tres importante (very important). My French is very rusty, it has to be. The last time I had to listen to unsubtitled French was when I was in France, donkey years ago. So, what I managed to gather from the show: It's actually a good show, very campy but not in a cheesy sorta way.
The characters are all women and the plot is: The patriach was killed one snowy morning. Who killed him? Is it his powerful but unhappy wife? Or one of his two daughters? Or is it his mother-in-law? It could also be his spinster sister-in-law. Don't forget there are 2 housekeepers who may have a reason to kill that bastard. Then, there is the sudden appearance of his sister.... Each of them have a motive. But only one killed him. I don't know who's the killer, neither have i figured out exactly what their motives are. There are light hearted segments found in the show, namely all those songs that each character has to perform. It's hilarious.
