Unlikely Activist I've made my stance on gay marriages quite clear multiple times on my blog and through conversation with my friends, but now I've become an activist supporting it, or, more truthfully, an activist on equality and dropping the term "marriage" for all legal purposes.
I'm not one to be so vocal about something so personal. I'm a Cancer, and I like my protective shell, so this is all very new for me. I only just came out at work this past December. I also don't make it a point to advertise it, not because of shame, but because I want to keep things to myself. But following President George W. Bush's stance on a marriage amendment to the Constitution, I wrote an 800 and some odd word piece against the amendment, which I'm trying to get printed.
So far I've tried The City Paper , The Philadelphia Inquirer , and The New York Times . Oh that I could be printed in The Times ! You'll have to be on the lookout for my name in the editorial section, or you could just check back here, because I will most definitely be making a deal about it. Or, if I can't find anyone to print it in a reasonable amount of time, I'll post it here, and send it as a letter to every elected representative in Congress.
I am creating a very awkward situation for myself, putting, or trying to put, myself out there so publicly. The audience to my blog will never rival The New York Times , and this allows me to take up issues in a very behind-the-scenes manner. But I have prepared for increase in visitors to my site, by updating a lot of crap and adding a lot of urlLink links useful for would-be environmental and political activists.
Obviously the environmental position is pretty biased, but I've made sure my political links aren't. *** This is my 3rd write-thru of this and it still sounds jumpy. I'm really out of it today. Must be the very nice weather here, which will end my cabin fever.
