Goodbye to Philly...for Now I'm leaving for Boston very early tomorrow morning via the Chinese bus. It's $10 to NYC, then on to another bus to Boston for $10. I'm traveling cheap this year, you can tell. It's been about 6 years since I was last in Boston. I've got a different outlook, I'm going with a different person... *** I actually planned my day today around the Martha Stewart sentencing.
Breakfast had to be done in time for me to catch the news. I'm not a fan of hers, but I don't think she should have gone through the investigation, the trial and now the sentencing. Why? Because she was found guilty of lying about a crime she couldn't be convicted on. Doesn't that sound like something crazy. Doesn't this sound like Iraq, like the Soviet Union? In my walks today through the city, I passed the Federal Courthouse in Philadelphia. The side of the building exclaimed something like "Justice Is the Protector of Liberty. " I don't think Justice was served today.
It was a twisted case, and the feds were in the wrong. They just needed the appearance of being tough on white collar crimes, what with the endlessly ongoing Enron investigation and the Tyco fiasco of a trial. I need to get my "Free Martha" shirt and take my stand, I guess. Here's to a successful appeal for Martha Stewart!
