How does a 10 day weekend sound to you? Because it sounds great to me. I'm so happy and excited about this that i'm wide awake even though I stayed up till 2:30 last night, and i'm not hungry even though I didn't eat anything this morning. What a glorious day. Whatever man (or woman) came up with Spring Break deserves a cookie, or even better, a donut. A Very Special Sports Report, Nobody Can Stop The Lakers: If I had any doubt that the Lakers would win the [NBA] championship for the fourth time in a row, it was completely erased last night when they beat the Sacramento Kings, they're supposed biggest rival, decisively.
I have been convinced. I have seen the light. Unlike the last three years, if the Lakers don't win it all, I will be shocked and awed. When it comes down to it and you give up all your futile hopes of your favorite team winning a championship you will realize that Shaq and Kobe, and the rest of the Lakers, are simply unstoppable. Shaq is clearly the X- Factor in the NBA that no other team can even come close to. There is an equal to Kobe Bryant, at least talent wise, in the form of Tracy Mcgrady, but nobody (and I mean nobody on the face of the earth) can even come close to playing the same level of basketball as Shaquille O Neal. He is the dominator. He will dunk it on anyone in the league, and for the times when he gets double or triple teamed, he can just shoot it (and make it). His free throws have even been improved to an impressive level. Normally I would be the last person to admit this, but there can be no argument about it.
Shaq can't lose. Not only do the Lakers have Shaq and Kobe, who could beat everybody on their merits alone, but everyone else on the team is good too. Many might not think so, but these people are winners. Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, Devean George, Robert Horry, and even Mark Madsen, they all know what it takes to win games, and what is most important - championships. They do their best to do their jobs to help their team, and that's more than what a lot of guys could say. Putting it all together, we have Phil Jackson as the coach and mastermind behind the whole operation. How insanely ridiculous is that? Phil Jackson, a well proven winner and the man who coached the Chicago Bulls to not one, but six NBA championships, is coaching the Lakers. Now that has to be one of the most absurd things i've ever heard of. Taking this all into consideration I would put the Laker's chances of winning it all this year at 99%. That means that everyone else has only a 1% chance of winning, combined. I am not even exaggerating here. If the Lakers played the best that they could every game of the regular season then they wouldn't lose 1 game, not even 1. Instead they like to toy with everyone else and lose a few games to get their hopes up. This season they took an even greater risk by falling far behind .500 in order to make it more exciting, they made it seem like the other teams have a chance.
But let's face it, no other team has a chance, unless you consider 1% a good chance. I don't see why anybody even cheers for other teams in the NBA. It's a joke, everyone else is just there for entertainment, but nobody can compete with the Lakers. You may say "But oh, Tim Duncan...", "No, Kevin Garnett...", "Hey, Tracy Mcgrady..." What people who say stuff like that fail to realize is that those guys are good players, but they aren't winners.
They may seem pretty good most of the time, but when it comes down to crunch time in the NBA finals they won't be the ones to make the game winning shot, Shaq and Kobe will. One could argue that those guy's stats are much better than either Shaq or Kobe, and they score more points, or they get more rebounds, or maybe even that they are the MVP of the league.
Well MVP is just a fancy title that they give to these losers who have no hope of beating the untouchable Lakers, and Shaq said it all when he said "the only stat that counts is the W." Period. And no, I don't care about the Sacramento Queens. I can be very convincing can't I? Well there's something I learned from school - how to write a persuasive essay... I've kind of worn myself out with all that talk about basketball so I will resort to citing two more things I found on the EGM message boards.
They aren't as funny this time, but I thought they were still cool, or at the least something to make you go hmm. "Extending the war into Iraq would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq...Exceeding the U.N.'s mandate would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the U.S. could still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land. " -George Bush Senior said this back when he was president about the Gulf War, it was in an issue of Time Magazine- I have been "Playing with Power", then "Super Power", then I "Got Into It".
I did "Get N or Get Out" too, and as I speak I am "Born to play", as well as "Living in my world, and playing in Sony's. " -Some kid making a joke about the past slogans for various game consoles- The first one is ironic because what he said is exactly what is happening today, and I dunno, it's kind of funny.
The second one is probably only cool if you have been playing video games for your whole life, like me. Although it is missing some major ones that I can't think of at the moment, it does bring back the memories for more than a few people. There's a substitute teacher up in here and she is wigging out on us because we're playing rap music out loud and playing the Arnold Schwarzenegger sound clips over the speakers. It's funny as hell. First Arnold goes "I hope you left room for my fist because I am going to ram it into your stomach! " and she's like "I'm going to write everyone in the class up if you guys keep doing this. " Then he's like "You sonofabitch! " and she's like "Oop, I warned ya, now you're all in big trouble. " So we distract her by playing some rap music all loud and she goes "I will not tolerate this bologny. Rap music has to be the biggest disgrace to music in...centuries! " Then, here's the good part, an Arnold clip plays where he says "Stop whining!
" Oh how I laugh at the craziness that is going on in this biotch. I will end this with the funniest thing i've heard in a long while. Jesseca was telling me about how she was watching Sorority/ Fraternity Life the other night, that's where I got this. There's a guy on the show that is a virgin and on one of the episodes he gets lucky with the stripper and has sex for the first time, and (get this) in the backround they play the song from the Jeffersons where it goes "I finally got a piece of the piiiiiie! " L O freakin L man, that is brilliant.
