I started my day off on the wrong foot when I woke up late this morning, as usual. At least I had a good reason today, but i'll get to that later. When I arrived at school I had to get me a tardy pass before I could go to class, and the line was long as ever, its amazing how many people get to school late everyday, kids these days... It was my third time being late this nine weeks and second time in two days, and it's only the beginning of the semester. Luckily all I got was "the tardy talk"... and lunch detention tommorow. The guy sounded pretty serious about us showing up too, he sounded like he would kill us or something if we didn't. And for those of you who don't know Mr/Coach Hillman, he's a rather intimidating guy, like one of those body builder types who can crush coconuts with their bare hands.
So being the badass that I am I'm just gonna skip lunch detention as a direct challenge to his authority and power. Now that I'm done talking about being late for a half hour I should probably tell what happened at school when I was actually in my classes; but we all know that's no fun, so I'll save that for a more boring day.
Today however, was far from boring. Why you ask? Because I BEAT SPLINTER CELL TODAY!!! (well it was around 3 in the morning but that still counts as today, and the excitement from it remains even to this hour, so why not claim it was today) That is such an awesome game. The graphics are better than any game before it and the gameplay is unlike anything i've experienced and truly lives up to its title of Stealth Combat Redefined. The action is intense, the sound flows perfectly and does its job well. The situations the game puts you in will make you bite your nails with nervous tension and can sometimes be downright scary(scary in a surprising kind of way). Another thing that made this game so cool was that it kept you thinking about it even when you weren't playing it.
I often found myself at school looking up into the ceiling of the walkway and bathrooms for pipes that I could climb on and secret entrances into buildings. Few games can do that to you, off the top of my head Tetris and Shenmue are the only ones that can make you feel like that. All these things are great but the thing that stuck out the most about this game was the challenge and difficulty level. I won't lie, it was hard, and that's a rare thing for me to say about a game. In fact i'm having second thoughts about saying it right now, i'm questioning how hard it really was, and i've decided that it was difficult enough to at least warrant me saying it was "hard". There were four or five times in the game where I was stuck at one checkpoint for hours at a time, and it was frustrating, but I know this: I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did if it was easy.
As much cussing at the TV screen, beating up my pillows with my bat, and other frustration evoked behavior as there was, when I finally did beat the game it was all worth it because I felt a feeling of accomplishment I rarely feel in real life. The sad thing is a lot of people have never felt this great feeling, and they never will until they complete an awesome videogame like Splinter Cell, which for most people will not happen.
Nonetheless this is what playing video games is all about my friends. In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is the reason I was late for school today, I was up really late beating Splinter Cell. It was funny near the end of the game too, because I wasn't supposed to kill the main enemy/ terrorist guy, not before I used his eyes for the retinal scanner anyways. So I had him in a chokehold and I accidentally hit R and punched him in the back of the head (in effect killing him) and the colonel guy who commands you during the mission goes "What are you doing!?!? " and Sam (the hero) says "I killed Kombayne Nikoladze" in a crazy voice, like it was some sort of joke.
Oh man it may not sound so funny put into words but that cracked me up so much. It literally made me laugh out loud, which is crazy because there I was sitting in my room alone at 3 in the morning just laughing. Then later on when the credits rolled it played that song Calling All Freaks (now that is good development right there), how brilliant of them. Because if there was anything I wanted to do at that time it was dance, and dance I did for about 10 minutes straight. When it was all said and done I decided that Splinter Cell was right up there with Halo: Combat Evolved(oh god it's funny writing out the complete subtitles of things), and tied for best game on X-Box. That is saying a lot since Halo is a virtual tour de force of non-stop heart pounding, adrenaline pumping(i'm fuckin wigging out actually) action, not to mention a modern masterpiece. Daaaamn I talk about crazy shit forever, lol. Oh my god there is massive amounts of snot coming out of my nose!...I'm your typical snot nosed punk. Ah yes, speaking of punks, Simple Plan sucks. I listened to every one of their songs and they suck, except for the two singles they have out now.
Those are the only songs that don't suffer from the monotonous bashing of drums and cymbals, un-melodic playing of untuned guitars, while the pre-pubescent lead singer ruins good lyrics with his stunning lack of emotion and feeling as well as with his over punkish, annoying voice...Wow that was some pretty hardcore bashing, I think I insulted them so much because they dissapointed me. I wanted them to be as good as some other emo bands that I like, and they had so much potential...oh well, maybe their next album will be better. Taking Back Sunday on the other hand, is awesome. If you do happen to take my word for it and listen to them be aware that it will probably sound weird at first, and that I didn't like them at all at first. The more I listened to them, the more I liked them, so just let it be known that they are definitely an aquired taste.
I only have one more thing to complain about before I end this madness. I've been reading a lot of other people's journals lately and I have seen a lot of stuff that I don't like. Grammar mistakes, word over usage, misspelled stuff galore, short posts, song lyrics, and long ass surveys are all things that i'm not too fond of, but all except for the latter I am guilty of myself at one time or another, so they don't bother me too much. But there is one thing that I cannot tolerate: people who write "I having nothing to say/write" in their journals. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, isn't that what journals are for? I could freak out so much more about this, but i've already wasted more than enough of my time on the computer today when I should be doing something more productive. So I only have one question to ask these people: If you have nothing to write, THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WRITING FOR?
Is it not clear to these people that when you have nothing to write you can simply not write anything and save people the time of reading through your horrible post that came into being as a result of you not having anything interesting to say so you just wrote a shitload of mindless jabber off the top of your head?
If you comprehended that last sentence and can answer it correctly then you are on your own because I, the one who wrote it, can't even fully understand it, I keep getting lost right near the end... Well kids that's it for today, check back next time for some more inspiring and entertaining psychobabble with the everlasting enigma that is the Davemyster. That was a pretty long one there wasn't it Uncle Ronnie? " That's Right ". Ok...that was gay. I'll leave you with something even more homosexual: an old school yo mama joke. Yo mama's so big, fat and clumsy, when she tried to get to Wal*Mart she stumbled over K-Mart and landed on Target.
