Hmmm . . . upon reviewing that last post, it occurred to me . . . What's happened to the imaginations of kids these days? I have many friends who agree - when we were young, the only TV we watched was Saturday morning cartoons (and they were GOOD cartoons, not the crazy nonsense on YTV these days) so our parents could sleep in, and maybe the odd show or two after school.
But we didn't have Nintendos or PS or X-box or internet for the longest time .
. .
so we had to amuse ourselves. We'd complain of being bored to our parents, and they'd simply say "well, find something to do then. " And then we came up with games or crafts or projects by ourselves. Refrigerator boxes were the ultimate, empty toilet rolls and paper bags had endless possibilities .
. .
I don't know many primary-school-aged children who play like this anymore. Granted, I don't know all that many children in that age range, but still. Are they losing something in having their entertainment provided for them? It makes me wonder .
. .
Perhaps I'm naive, but if I ever have children, I'd like them to be able to see the potential in every day house-hold items. It's gotta be expensive having kids even without all the gadgets and new-fangled electronic toys .
. .
Yeesh, I sound like a grandparent or something .
. .
"Well, in MY day we had to walk blah blah blah blah .
. .
" *L*
