Something's bugging me, and I just don't know what. Despite all the great things going on in my life, I've been in a funk the last week or so, and I don't know how to shake it because I don't know what's causing it. I used to be hyper-analytical about anything and everything going on in my life, but it made me a constant emotional wreck, so I learned to stop.
Maybe I went too far the other way. I'm sure the boredom isn't helping. But that can't be the only reason, can it? When I was in my post-secondary days, I got this ailment I dubbed "the 2-month itch. " It never failed that, 2 months into a new semester, or a summer of working, I would get this incredible sense of restlessness, like I was going to crawl out of my skin and needed to completely overhaul my life. I would usually manage to create some kind of drama or crisis, and if I was in school, it would mess up my entire semester. My marks would take a nose-dive, I would start skipping classes all the time, and often missing homework deadlines. If it was the summer (or in my year off), I started slacking off at work and got a really bad attitude. I think it's under control now, but I definitely get it from my mother. Not that I would ever tell her to her face, because she's my mother after all and I love her, but she can be one heck of a drama queen.
There's always something traumatic going on in her mind - be it problems with co-workers, problems with divorce settlement issues (sadly, still), behaviour problems with my youngest brother, or some sort of illness. Still - could this be my problem? A x-month itch? I feel disconnected .
. .
like I'm aware of all these things going on, and I know I should be happy and excited and grateful, but I just don't feel anything.
Except maybe guilt. I feel guilt a lot because I've been rather fed up with the dog lately. I know, in my head, that lots of the things he does is just part of him being a puppy. But the whining gets to me, having to wash my sole pair of jeans every other day because he's always jumping up with muddy paws gets to me, the constant no-rascals, down-rascals, off-rascals get to me. And I feel guilty. Although I never enjoyed being alone much, maybe I miss having the option of retreating to my own apartment every once and a while. But I don't feel stifled or anything. Maybe I'm jealous of my friends who still don't have to worry about rent, or utilities, or paying back student loans that cost as much as a new car, and who can plan impromtu weekend trips and still have the energy and motivation to party at a moments' notice.
But that was never really me in the first place, so I don't think that's right, either. Or maybe I'm just a girl who's prone to mood swings for no reason every now and then. Yeah, I think I can live with that. It doesn't require any work on my part. *L*
