Crossing the t's and Dotting the i's Not like I really thought it was any different, but now it's just a matter of negotiation - agreeing what I'll be paid and any other little details. I talked to my old supervisor last night, and the GM even popped in while I was there to assure me/us that he'd be willing to have 3 people in that position for the sake of getting things back on track. Upon further discussion, it sounds a lot more reasonable - they'll keep the new guy on for another little while to see how it goes, and then determine if he fits or not. I think they just don't want anyone threatened by my return, and possibly any lawsuits - completely understandable given the company's history with trouble from ex-employees. But it sounds like they have the same impression as me - in a nutshell, that the new guy just doesn't have the common sense and attention to detail required for the job. So yeah, all I really need to worry about is when to give my notice, and what on earth I'm going to say. I read over the company's resignation policy, and I'm only required to give a weeks' notice if I've been here less than 2 years. So I think I'll wait until Friday, that way maybe the impact is softened by the time I have to come in for work on Monday. I'll work my 2 1/2 days left before Christmas, get paid out for my outstanding holidays, and if they want to refuse to pay me for the Christmas break (I've resigned myself to no pay for New Years'), I suppose that's their right. I'm going to do my best not to burn any bridges. Because I don't need that this early on in my career.
I'm going to be so nervous for the rest of the week - I hope it goes by fast. But seeing as I'm seriously lacking in work to do again, it'll probably drag by. Oh well. I'll see if I can find any short-term projects to do in the meantime. And on BF's employment front .
. .
I can't believe what he's putting up with at work for the sake of getting through the holidays and leaving in the best manner possible.
Maybe his boss/dad can sense that something is coming, I don't know. But he's definitely crossing the lines of professionalism these days. On Friday evening, it was a friend's birthday party. BF used to work with the girl's husband until he quite a few months ago, and they also live down the street. We're all pretty good friends and still hang out every coupla weeks. So of course we would attend her surprise birthday party. Apparently BF got his butt chewed out yesterday for this! Apparently, because said friend's husband is an ex-employee, that he shouldn't be socializing with him. That he has his priorities screwed up or something to that effect. BF's attitude when he was telling me about this was "I just need to make it through the Christmas season.
" Wow, he's strong. I can't imagine what on earth is going through his dad's head to be saying these things, especially on the job. As a boss - and even as a dad, for that matter - how on earth is it his business what an employee (or his son) does on his personal time, or who he associates with? It isn't! My only comment just before we fell asleep was - "Well, hopefully we'll both be much happier after Christmas.
" And hopefully a cute little ball of fur to come home to will help relieve stress in the meantime. =) Except that we still haven't heard a peep from urlLink FRFA . Maybe by the weekend. I know most of them are volunteers who have day jobs, so I've got to be patient. It never rains but pours, huh? =)
