Sad Days I wasn't even sure I wanted to post about this, because people I know in the flesh read my blog and I'm not sure I want to feel judged.
But people would find out eventually, anyways. We've had to make a tough decision. Things aren't improving with Rascal, and it's getting to the point that we're worried he'll grow into a disobedient dog if we keep him much longer. He's not a bad dog, but he definitely needs more attention and more training than we can offer him. And the situation isn't likely to change anytime in the near future. I don't believe that Rascal is happy, and I don't think we are, either. So today I have to make the awful phone call to the rescue agency we got him from, and admit that we failed. We made a decision that we ultimately couldn't commit to, and it feels awful. The part I'm dreading most?
The looks and comments we're likely to get from our friends when they find out. My bf thinks that they'll be too pre-occupied with their pregnancies, and that one couple will have to get rid of their own dog, but I'm not so sure. I've been on the receiving end of one or two cutting remarks before, after I gave one of my cats back to my ex .
. .
as in "you shouldn't be allowed to get a kitten, because you already gave up one of your cats" .
. .
And I'm worried that we'll be black-listed for years at the agency. *sigh* Guess we'll be cat people for at least the next couple of years.
