Next semester, I'm all lined up to take 14 credits of lawyerly-goodness. That is, of course, so long as I get the classes I requested and don't decide to give it all up and move to Tahiti to build schooners. Along with Public Interest Law & Practice and Constitutional Law (two full-year courses), I'll be diving into Tax (yikes! ), Legislation (an elective) and Employment Discrimination (because Employment Law isn't being offered until later). I find all of them interesting, and will call on various friends and family (Jenny and Mom, not the rest of you lunkheads) to explain portions of each to this feeble-minded law student. Law Review work should simmer down a little next semester, because the full paper is due Jan. 5 (the main reason I have to come back to SD so early), although I assume the cite-checking continues.
I'm pretty sure they're going to be sending me cite-checking assignments when I'm 72 and living in Del Boca Vista. Speaking of Law Review, I got my editor's comments back on my first draft, and it was surprisingly well-received. I'm not sure if he just didn't have time to read it closely or if it's actually that unoffensive to the sensibilities, but it's a weight off my shoulders. Now I just have to triple the size by January! All in all, I'm feeling pretty positive right now. Good times!
