I finally figured out what song that is in that cool OfficeMax commercial that's on these days. You know the one - the guy with the big afro is handing out necessary supplies to his office, to the tune of (wait for it...) " urlLink Rubberband Man " by the Spinners. It's a cool song and a well-made commercial. Maybe I'll go to OfficeMax more often. Nah. Why would I do that? Going to Sacramento on Thursday for a urlLink Med Board meeting. That will be... fun. If by fun I mean "mind-numbing," which I do. But perhaps the time away from the computer and cable will give me the chance to work on my Comment more productively.
The free hotel room is... nice but I've traveled enough at this point that it's not as exciting as it might once have been. I've noticed that I get a lot (well, a handful every day) of hits from people searching for "reversed and remanded". Thus it occurs to me that perhaps I should explain what that means, if it isn't obvious. It's a term that appellate courts use when they make a decision, reversing the previous court and remanding (sending it back) to that court for rehearing according to the new rules.
Because sometimes when the Supreme Court (or any appellate court) rules, it doesn't just put the case to rest - more must be done, under the constraints now imposed by the new decision. So the lower courts receive the "reversed and remanded" cases and deal with them as necessary. Of course there's also results like "affirmed" or "remanded for further fact-finding" but those aren't the titles of this blog, so I'm not explaining those. Suckers!
