urlLink This Ny Times OP-ED contribution suggests that John Kerry should form a Shadow Cabinet. I found this a really interesting idea and a wonderful thought experiement. So a shadow cabinet, used largely in parliamentary systems, is where the opposition creates a false government-- one which would, austensibly, be the one that HE-- in this case Kerry-- would set up. I'll not lay out the articles arguments for a shadow cabinet, I'm just going to speculate on who would make good ministers/secretaries on it. Surgeon General: Howard Dean. clearly a political appointment, but much as been written about Dean's leftist/green faction among democrats, and the worries that Dean's antiwar statement might scare off some moderates.
However, putting him in postition where his real authority lies-- as a doctor-- makes sense. His strongest policy point has always been health care, a place that is quite questionable for GWB. more to come urlLink also: my new favorite website. HILARIOUS
