urlLink according to this some dude is challenging NFL rules that say that he has to be out of highschool at least 3 years before he can participate in the NFL. he cites the fact that most other major sports have more lenient rules, and calls the NFL a monopoly.
this is stupid. the NFL, as a private corporation can set any rule it wants. it can say, "people who want to play have to be able to stand on their head and speak latin" if they want. that's the right to association. Its different for him to argue that its sort of generally unfair that he can't play but the correct rememdy isn't in the courts. This is a trend i really dislike in american society: that anytime anything vaguely unfair happens, people say, "that's unfair and hence unconstitutional," or "the courts will fix it.
" no. the courts can only do a specifically and intentionally narrow range of issues. Unfortunately its also my impression that the courts have broadened their own powers by allowing such cases to proceed and rewarding them with favorable lawsuits. also Aha--- thanks storey, i got it, and emily's in too. also Sepdawg: i like the new format. also, for once, i tend to agree with everything you said.
