Worship March 1 Saturday nite was pretty good. I played for the first time on the worship team, and it was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. I had these pre-conceived ideas about all these horrible things happening, and none of them did, so I guess that's good! It was a little embarrassing having to have Michael go over the verse with me in Enough about 20 times, and it didn't help that the main leaders (James and Bobby) kept listening in. (No offense to them though, cuz I know it wasn't to make me nervous or anything. ) I finally caught on, and it was really good to have Jaime there with me. I know she was singing and everything, but she could tell me which voices to put on what song, and could tell me if I was playing "too choppy"! (lol, James! ) Then during the actual service I had a lot of fun. I mean, it was kinda hard at first cuz the first song was Dance in the River, and all through the first part all I do is hold the D chord down...for the whole first part. So I was trying to look like I'm giving my all for God, but I don't really think I could...and then it was really funny though cuz when everyone started dancing around, even onstage, everything was shaking...I had no idea that happened when I sang on the side! I'm just sitting there playing my little D and G chords, and the whole floor starts shaking, and the keyboard starts shaking...I almost laughed cuz it scared me really bad at first cuz I honestly thought the keyboard was gonna fall over or something!
Whatever. So I made my way throught the rest of the songs, and it was actually a lot more worshipful than I thought it would be. I mean, at home when I'm playing by myself, I get into worship really well, but then again it doesn't matter if I mess up or not. So I didn't really count on actually getting into worship this nite, but I did. Overall, I think the night went really well...I had a really good time playing, and it wasn't as stressful as I thought it'd be. I definitely thought Bobby was gonna get all frustrated with me or something, but if he did he didn't show it, and for that I am grateful!!
Oh, and he sounded great singing! Go Bobby!! Oh, and I'm glad that for that nite James didn't have me playing the verse in Enough, cuz it gave me some time just to sit there and raise my hands...that gesture used to be so casual, but now that I play, I'm grateful for the times when I actually can just raise my hands and start worshiping...weird, huh? ~Erika <>
