Update I just thought I'd write a blog entry about last week, which Jaime was here for. People keep asking how it was, did we have fun, etc. so I thought I'd just let you know how it was.
Two times we went out between 9: 30 and 10 p. m. to rent movies from Blockbuster. The second rental we got for free because the cashier was a flirtatious dork. oh well,
hey, saved us some money. We never got into a fight, but we always tend to be kind of rude to each other. go figure. We watched the O.
C. together. If you don't watch it, there's one guy who's like in high school who's sleeping with his ex- girlfriend's mother. Ugh.
We were both really grossed out, but Jaime had a spaz attack over it. J: What? What? What?
What? WHAT? WHAT? M: ( slow,
annoyed glare) Shut up! J: ( blinks) What?
We also tended to vow to go to bed early( ish) and actually go to sleep when we got into bed. M: Goodnight. J:
 Goodnight. M: ( stifling laughter) J: (
stifling laughter) M: ( cracking up) J: (
cracking up) Typically that's when we started quoting movies and wound up staying awake for a couple more hours. We also, much to certain peoples' disbelief, worked out every day ( with the exception of the day that I was working,
during which Jaime worked out without me) Then we typically did Pilates dvd's and then watched Y& R ( The Young and the Restless, our soap) We ran a half a mile the first day,
increasing distance over the span of days to eventually wind up running a full mile the last day. First Day after 1/ 4 of a mile: M: ( panting and wheezing)
Ok, I'm really out of shape. ( pant) I'm gonna die. J:
( gasping desperately for breath) You know, it really wasn't that bad ( wheeze) M:
( heaving for air) Yeah, I think we did pretty good! J: (
breathing slowly returning to normal) Yeah, I'm proud of us! M: I agree. Ok,
let's go watch Y& R. On the last day, we did a train on the last lap. A train is where everyone runs in a single file line, and the last person sprints to the front of the line and is then the leader.
The person who is now on the end sprints forward and is then the leader, etc. This continues for however long you want. In our case, we decided to do a train the last 1/ 4 mile.
Apparently we're a little more competitive with each other than we thought. Last Day- I start, Jaime right behind me: M: (
lightly jogging) J: ( runs in front of me and smiles as she passes me) This continues for some time, and then towards the end:
M: ( bolting to get ahead of her) J: ( sprinting furiously to get ahead of me)
M: ( trying to run faster than her and quickly. ish. dismissing thoughts of giving her a playful, sportsmanlike push off the road)
J: ( refusing to let me get ahead of her) We wound up sprinting side by side for the last part because neither was willing to get behind the other without a fight. When we were done and starting the cool down: M:
Well that wasn't so bad. J: Nah. M: You were totally trying to beat me. J:
Yeah, I was like, 'There's NO WAY she's getting ahead of me this time! ' M: Haha, me too.
 J: Yeah, haha. ( silence) M:
So. I think we should watch Y& R before we do Pilates, what do you think? J: Definitely.
Anyway, so there's our time together, minus all the late- night laughing and movie- quoting, gripes about Pilates-
induced agony and pedicures at night in silence ( so what if we screamed because some random object behind us fell on the floor and we might as well have been convinced that it was the ghost of Madison Elizabeth Frank from What Lies Beneath? Yeah, we're pretty dumb, but hey, we still had fun.
