Well, jury duty was a big let down yesterday. I drove all the way to the "wank" to sit in a very uncomfortable chair next to people I did not know for a measly hour and a half. The good ole clerk of court computer pulled in 130+ people yesterday, with only 9.. .no wait 2... no wait 1 judge actually looking to try something (Yes, this is exactly how the morning went).
I was one of the lucky 85 let go at 10AM, and I still don't have to serve for at least another two years!! YEAH! While waiting, I got in some quality reading time... so much that I went home and read some more. My mother and mother-in-law were right, those Janet Evanovich novels are fantastic... so much so that I read the first two installments yesterday... and started on the third! WOW! Stephanie Plum, the heroine is this series, is a bumbling, smart-assed, and independent female who just took a job as a bounty hunter for her cousin Vinny. What I like best about this series is Evanovich's ability to give the reader description without taking away from the action. I hate novels that have miles and miles of description-- which is why I hate reading Anne Rice -- IT'S SO BORING!! So, these books are a very quick read. I think I may put aside Harry Potter for a few days until I get tired of reading about Stephanie Plum.
Lucky for me, when I showed at work this morning I discovered that I need to pack my entire office. Apparently, changing the carpet is catching in corporate world (see urlLink Matt's Blog ). Supposedly, the bulk of this will be done over the weekend, but they will be starting the job later today (They are also knocking out a few walls as well). This sucks for a variety of reasons. First, I hate packing... its just way too stressful to be so organized. Second, the carpet has been here for quite awhile... carpets trap tons of dust... I am allergic to dust.
I've had this happen when Sidney decided to change the carpet in the Purchasing Department at Loyola, it isn't pretty. So, I will not be surprised if I leave claiming breathing problems either today or Monday. Thirdly, my work is mainly done on a computer... in my office. I have no clue how this will work.
